Men’s Tennis Coasts to 9-0 Victory Over Curry
WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team returned to the win-column with a 9-0 win over Curry Saturday afternoon at the Weymouth Club.
The Lions improve to 13-3 on the season and 5-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the victory. The Colonels dip to 6-10 overall and 1-6 in league matches with the result.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) reached 6-0 on the year in doubles play with an 8-5 win at the No. 1 position over Aidan Roach and Dawson Stento.
Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) and Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) edged Richie Hefler and Ryan Sullivan at the second spot, 8-6.
Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) cruised to an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 slot over Zach Muller and Ben Higgins.
Partyka breezed by Roach at the top singles spot 6-3, 6-0. Playing at the No. 2 singles position for the first time this spring, Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) topped Sullivan 6-4, 7-6.
Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at the third spot over Stento. Camero prevailed in straight-sets in the fourth singles match against Hefler 6-2, 6-0 while Pierson powered past Muller 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 slot.
At the No. 6 position, Steelman collected his 18th-consecutive victory in singles action and climbed to 16-0 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Higgins.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home April 24 to battle CCC frontrunner Nichols.
