Men’s Tennis Blanked by Gordon in CCC Quarterfinals, 5-0
WENHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team was eliminated from the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament with a 5-0 quarterfinal loss at Gordon Saturday afternoon.
The fifth-seeded Lions cap off the year with a 12-9 overall record while the fourth-seeded Fighting Scots improve to 16-5 overall with the result.
The home team swept the three doubles matches to establish a 3-0 lead.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) suffered an 8-3 setback at the No. 1 doubles position to Zach Hall and Mason Casady.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) fell to Nate Lookwhy and Peter Godwin 8-2 at the second spot.
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.) were edged in a tiebreaker 7-4 by Mike D'Antuono and Joe Daugherty at the No. 3 doubles slot.
Gordon clinched the victory with wins at the fourth and sixth singles positions.
Biondi absorbed a 6-0, 6-1 loss at the No. 4 spot to D'Antuono and Brandon Jenkins (Norwood, Mass.) fell to Daugherty 6-2, 6-0 in the sixth singles match.
When the match was halted, Partyka held a 6-4, 3-0 lead at the No. 1 position and Tolmachev was ahead at the No. 2 slot 5-4.
