Alex Partyka Tabbed CCC Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Year; Partyka and Tolmachev Earn All-CCC Accolades
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team's Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, becoming the first player in program history to earn the award, and claimed All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team honors in singles while Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) garnered All-Commonwealth Coast Conference second team accolades in singles. The duo also collected All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team laurels in doubles.
Partyka boasts a 13-3 record in singles action this year, playing primarily at the No. 1 position. The freshman owned a 6-2 record in conference matches and has won seven straight matches. He picked up three Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week accolades and was named the Player of the Week once.
Tolmachev claims his second All-CCC honor in singles and doubles after earning first team plaudits in singles and second team honors in doubles last year. The sophomore sports a 13-6 record on the season in singles competition, including an 11-4 mark at the No. 2 spot. He compiled a 4-3 record in league play and is riding a five-match winning streak. Tolmachev captured his first career Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week nod earlier this season.
As a doubles tandem, Partyka and Tolmachev combined for a 12-2 record at the top doubles position. They racked up a 5-1 mark in conference action and have won seven consecutive doubles matches.
Eastern Nazarene posted a 12-8 overall record during the regular season and finished with a 4-4 mark in league play. The Lions claimed a spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the sixth consecutive year.
Eastern Nazarene, seeded fifth, will hit the road to battle No. 4 Gordon April 30 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals for the second season in a row.
