Men’s Tennis Edged in Monday Matchup at Endicott, 6-3
BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Endicott Monday afternoon.
The Lions slip to 12-7 on the season and 4-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Gulls improve to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in league action with the win.
The visitors trailed 2-1 heading to singles play after recording one doubles victory.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) eked out a 7-5 win in a tiebreaker to claim their seventh straight doubles victory and 12th on the year, 9-8, downing Chris Kirkpatrick and Michael Dolph at the No. 1 spot.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) suffered an 8-5 setback at the second double position to Eric Pierce and Keaton McCleary. Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.) and Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) fell to Nicholas Eherts and Sean McAndrews at the No. 3 slot, 8-2.
Endicott prevailed in four of the six singles matches to collect its sixth conference victory of the season.
Partyka defeated Kirkpatrick at the top singles position 6-4, 6-1 to notch his 12th singles win of the spring.
Tolmachev secured his team-leading 13th singles victory of the year, topping Dolph 6-2, 6-3 at the second spot.
Paterno absorbed a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Pierce at the No. 3 singles slot while Biondi fell to Eherts 6-1, 6-2 at the fourth position.
Campbell suffered a 6-2, 6-3 loss in the No. 5 singles match to McCleary and Brandon Jenkins (Norwood, Mass.) fell to Sam Salvas at the No. 6 spot 6-1, 6-2.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will visit league-leading Nichols April 27 to wrap up the regular season.
