Men’s Tennis Sails Past Salve Regina 9-0, Earns Fifth-Straight Win
NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team rattled off its fifth consecutive win Saturday afternoon, prevailing at Salve Regina 9-0.
The Lions improve to 12-6 on the year and 4-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the victory. The Seahawks flutter to 3-10 overall and 1-6 in league matches.
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) cruised to an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position over DJ Bisaillon and Jack Lawlor.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) edged Matt Gingras and Will Masse at the second spot 9-8 after a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker.
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.) posted an 8-1 victory over Jeremiah Callahan and Zach Monahan at the third slot.
Partyka coasted past Lawlor at the top singles spot, 6-3, 6-0. Tolmachev picked up his team-leading 12th singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bisaillon at the No. 2 slot.
Paterno also notched his 12th singles victory of the year, downing Masse 7-5, 6-3 at the third singles position. Campbell secured his 12th win of the season in singles action, defeating Callahan 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth slot.
Biondi topped Gingras at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-2 and Brandon Jenkins (Norwood, Mass.) earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the sixth singles match over Monahan.
