Men’s Tennis Earns Four All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Nods
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team garnered four All-Commonwealth Coast Conference accolades, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Rookie Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) headlined the selections as he was named to the All-CCC first team in singles. Senior Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) was tabbed to the All-CCC second team in singles, his third career All-CCC singles honor. Senior Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) claimed All-CCC third team singles plaudits. The Lions' top doubles tandem of McKay-Corkum and Tolmachev also collected second team doubles honors.
Tolmachev boasts a 9-7 singles record in his first collegiate season. The rookie played primarily at the No. 1 singles position for the Lions this year.
McKay-Corkum received All-CCC first team singles last season and earned second team honors as a sophomore. He also claimed his third career All-CCC doubles nod after being selected to the second team as a junior and earning honorable mention two years ago.
The senior owns a team-high 12 singles victories on the year while posting a 6-2 mark against conference foes. McKay-Corkum represented Eastern Nazarene at the No. 2 singles spot for the majority of the season. He also notched one win at the top singles position this spring.
Son finished the regular season with a 7-3 singles record and ranked third on the squad with four victories in league matches.
McKay-Corkum and Tolmachev combined to post an 8-4 record in doubles play this season. The duo strung together four straight wins to cap off the regular season.
Eastern Nazarene concluded the regular season with a 10-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in league play. The Lions claimed a spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive year, grabbing the No. 5 seed.
Eastern Nazarene will hit the road to square off against fourth-seeded Gordon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinals April 28.
