Men’s Tennis Coasts Past Curry Wednesday, 9-0
MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team blanked Curry 9-0 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 9-7 on the season and 3-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the win. The Colonels slide to 0-12 overall and 0-8 in league matches with the result.
Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) posted an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position over Charlie Paltsios and Nick Poulack.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) notched an 8-2 victory over Valvel Temin and Joe Berger at the second spot.
Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 decision at the third slot over Shane Harrington and Jake Heisinger.
Eastern Nazarene cruised to six singles wins to collect its third conference victory of the spring.
McKay-Corkum prevailed in three sets in his first action at the top singles spot this season, downing Temin. McKay-Corkum breezed to a 6-0 win in the first set before dropping the second set. The senior bounced back to claim the third-set super-tiebreaker 10-4.
Son captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position over Paltsios and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) topped Andrew Hagerty 6-4, 6-0 in the third singles match.
Steelman swept Berger 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth slot and Perron defeated Jonathon Schutzman 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.
Gregory Parenteau (Wolcott, Conn.) picked up his first singles victory of the season, triumphing 6-1, 6-2 over James Murphy at the sixth position.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene caps off the regular season at home against Salve Regina April 25. The Lions will honor the program's three seniors prior to the start of the match.
