Men’s Tennis Eases Past Emerson 9-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team coasted by Emerson to earn a 9-0 win Monday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The home Lions improved to 6-5 overall with the victory while the visiting Lions dropped to 2-5 on the year.
Eastern Nazarene swept the three doubles matches, conceding just one game.
Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) claimed an 8-1 win over Nik Rhodes and Matt Jenkins at the No. 1 position.
Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) blanked Spencer Sabo and Joshua Freud 8-0 at the second doubles spot.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) cruised to an 8-0 victory at the third slot over Aren Kabarajian and Matthew Jepsky.
The hosts tallied six wins in singles action to lock up their third 9-0 decision of the season.
Tolmachev breezed past Rhodes 6-0, 6-0 at the top position. McKay-Corkum notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jenkins in the No. 2 singles match. Son captured a 6-4, 6-4 win over Freud at the third singles slot.
Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) glided to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position against Sabo. Perron posted his second victory of the year at the fifth spot as he downed Blake Greenawalt 6-1, 6-0. Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.) earned his first singles win of the season, prevailing 6-3, 6-0 in the sixth singles match against Samir Beria.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene hosts UMass-Boston April 14 in the second consecutive non-conference clash.
