Men’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors, Five Named Scholar-Athletes
SKILLMAN, N.J.- The Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team has been recognized by the International Tennis Association (ITA) with the All-Academic Team Award while five student-athletes picked up All-Academic Scholar-Athlete accolades.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA member program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela), Shane Bookhultz (New Freedom, Pa.), Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.), Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Nick Thompson (York, Pa.) were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2013-14 academic year.
The ITA honored 49 NCAA Division III men's tennis teams and 762 student-athletes from across the nation.
The Lions were one of three men's tennis programs from the Commonwealth Coast Conference recognized by the ITA along with Endicott and Gordon.
