Men’s Tennis Blanked by Top-Seeded Nichols in CCC Semifinals
WORCESTER, Mass.- The fourth-seeded Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team endured a 5-0 loss to top-seeded Nichols at Clark University Tuesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.
The Lions end the season with a 9-10 overall record while the Bison improve to 20-1 on the year.
Nichols built a 3-0 lead with a trio of doubles victories.
Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) and Nick Thompson (York, Pa.) dropped an 8-2 decision at the No. 1 doubles spot to Justin DeLuca and Brandon Roode.
Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) suffered an 8-5 setback at the second position to Joan Castillo and Carlos De La Cruz.
Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Yahalel Carter (Chicago, Ill.) fell to Josh Halpern and James Smith 8-0 at the No. 3 slot.
The Bison extended their lead to 4-0 as Perron absorbed a 6-1, 6-0 loss at the No. 2 singles position to Roode.
Carter dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Jake Zapatka at the sixth singles spot as Nichols clinched the match.
