Men's Tennis Blanks Curry in First CCC Match, 9-0

MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team prevailed 9-0 at Curry in the first Commonwealth Coast Conference contest of the season Saturday. The Lions improve to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in league play with the win. The Colonels slide to 0-5 on the year and 0-1 in the conference.
Eastern Nazarene cruised to a trio of victories in doubles action to open the match with a 3-0 lead.
The Lions' top duo of Austin Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Nick Thompson (York, Pa.) posted an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 position. Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Tim Luz (Cumberland, R.I.) notched an 8-3 win at the second slot. Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) capped off the doubles sweep at the No. 3 spot, rolling to an 8-1 decision.
The visitors claimed six singles wins to secure their first conference victory of the spring.
Steelman prevailed 6-0, 6-1 at the top singles spot over Curry's Tyler Collins. McKay-Corkum breezed past Toma Blatchford 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Luz picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the third singles match over Charlie Paltsios.
Perron swept the Colonels' Rob Knight 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth position. Paterno cruised past Lucas Donaway 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot while Thompson collected a 6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth slot.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will look to net its second-straight CCC victory as it hosts Endicott March 27.
