QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Emerson Tuesday evening in the first home match of the season.
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 2, Emerson 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The home side established a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) headed in his second goal of the season off of a corner kick delivered by Joaquin Ferraro (Seville, Spain).
- Emerson got on the board in the 44th minute to level the match at 1-1. Cade Mallett nodded home his first tally of the year as Ivan Bruce whipped in a corner kick.
- The guests jumped ahead 2-1 in the 63rd minute. Thomas Chuaqui netted his third marker of the fall while Wesley Jackson chalked up his first assist.
- The visiting Lions tacked on their third score of the game in the 72nd minute to stretch their advantage to 3-1. Skyler Stark Ragsdale found the back of the net for his third goal of the season, heading in a corner kick delivered by Bruce.
- Eastern Nazarene cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 89th minute. Vargas bagged his second tally of the night and third of the year with a left-footed strike. Samuel Rosas (Danbury, Conn.) picked up his first assist of the fall on the score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Erik Berg (Hadley, Mass.) finished with four saves in his fourth start of the campaign.
- Each squad produced 12 shot attempts while Emerson concluded the contest with an 8-4 edge in corner kicks earned.
