HENNIKER, N.H.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision at New England College Wednesday evening, halting its program-record winning-streak at 13-straight games.
The Lions move to 13-2-0 on the season and 4-1-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the loss. The Pilgrims improve to 8-9-0 overall and 4-2-0 in league action with the win.
The hosts seized a 2-0 lead on a pair of own goals in the 22nd and 36th minutes.
Eastern Nazarene fired 12 shots in the first half while New England College attempted four shots.
The Pilgrims tacked on their third goal of the contest in the 49th minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Panagiotis Galatas collected his fourth marker of the year as he headed in a cross by Wiskens Flavin.
The Lions got on the board in the 65h minute to narrow the margin to 3-1. Didac Gomes Castellvi (Tarragona, Spain) buried his first collegiate goal as he knocked in a rebound after Leon Zaffonato's (Canela, Brazil) initial effort was saved.
New England College responded in the 66th minute to reclaim a three-goal cushion, 4-1. Tucker Stenger netted his fourth tally of the year while Flavin picked up his second assist of the contest.
Eastern Nazarene pulled to within two, 4-2, in the 70th minute. Charlie Swann (London, England) scored his league-leading 15th goal of the season off of an assist by Carlos Moya (Oviedo, Spain).
The visitors finished with 26 shots on the night while the hosts produced 14 shots.
Junior Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) registered four saves in his sixth start of the year.
