Men’s Soccer Garners Votes in D3Soccer.com National Poll for Second-Straight Week
QUINCY, Mass.- Winners of 11-straight matches, the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team appeared in the D3Soccer.com National Poll for the second-consecutive week, as the national rankings were released Tuesday. The Lions received 13 votes in the latest national rankings.
Eastern Nazarene sports an 11-1-0 overall record on the year to go with a 3-0-0 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions sit atop the league standings with three matches remaining on the docket.
Eastern Nazarene has strung together a program-record 11-consecutive victories and the squad's 11 wins this season are the most in a single season since 1994.
Junior Charlie Swann (London, England) leads the conference and ranks 15th in NCAA Division III with 12 goals on the season. Swann has found the back of the net in nine of the 12 contests this fall while also contributing with a pair of assists.
Junior Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil) paces the NECC with six assists and ranks third in the league with seven goals. Zaffonato has recorded seven multi-point games and shares the team lead with Swann with three game-winning tallies.
Between the pipes, Eastern Nazarene's goalkeepers have combined to post a 0.76 goals-against average with seven shutouts. Tyler Ferreira (Berkley, Mass.) boasts an 8-1-0 record with a 0.75 goals-against average while Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) owns a 3-0-0 record with a 0.88 goals-against average.
The Lions are slated to host Dean October 16 in a conference clash before hosting Salve Regina in the final regular-season home match October 19 on Homecoming weekend. Eastern Nazarene will wrap up the regular season on the road at New England College October 23 and at Lesley October 30.
