NEW LONDON, Conn.- The third-seeded Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to No. 2 seed Mitchell in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon.
The Lions wrap up the 2018 campaign with a 7-10-3 overall record while the Mariners improve to 9-8-0 on the year and advance to the NECC Tournament Championship game.
Eastern Nazarene generated 10 shots in the opening half while Mitchell managed three attempts.
At the end of regulation, the Lions and Mariners were deadlocked at 0-0 despite Eastern Nazarene holding an 18-5 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks earned.
Mitchell netted the game-winning score in the 97th minute to reach the NECC Tournament title match for the second-straight year. Mason Rubino tallied his first goal of the season off of an assist by Christian Urena.
Edmilson Centeio (New Bedford, Mass.) fired a team-high five shots while Jose Ruiz (Jerez de la Frontera, Spain) attempted four.
Rookie Florian Resch (St. Stefan, Austria) finished with three saves in net for the Lions in his 16th match of the season.
