Men’s Soccer Endures 5-2 Loss at Elms
CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team fell 5-2 at Elms Saturday afternoon.
The Lions drop to 5-9-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the setback. The Blazers improve to 5-10-1 on the year and 4-2-1 in league action with the win.
The home team jumped out to a 1-0 edge with a score in the 12th minute. Babba Jaden netted his seventh goal of the season as Shaquille Robinson picked up an assist.
Eastern Nazarene attempted six shots in the first half while Elms produced 11 shots.
The Blazers doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute on Jaden's second tally of the contest.
Elms tacked on a goal in the 51st minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Colby Macdonald notched his third marker of the fall off of an assist by Pedro Duarte.
The Lions got on the board in the 67th minute to trim the gap to 3-1. Prem Subedi (Scranton, Pa.) bagged his second goal of the season with an unassisted strike.
The hosts reclaimed a three-goal advantage in the 70th minute, 4-1. Macdonald tallied his second goal of the game off of a feed from Anthony Romei.
The visitors cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 76th minute. Sunil Lepcha (Charlotte, N.C.), the team's top point-getter, collected his second goal of the season as Matthew Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) provided the assist.
Elms capped off the scoring in the 83rd minute to go up 5-2. Jaden completed the hat trick with his third marker of the day and ninth of the year while Romei recorded his second helper of the match.
Eastern Nazarene concluded the contest with 19 shots while the Blazers fired 20.
Florian Resch (St. Stefan, Austria) registered four saves in his 12th start of the fall. Victor Mendoza (Cathedral City, Calif.) came on in relief between the pipes for the final 20 minutes.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene visits Pine Manor October 25 in the final non-conference tilt of the season.
