QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team battled Newbury to a 1-1 draw Tuesday evening under the lights at Creedon Field.
The Lions progress to 4-7-2 ovearll and 2-0-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). The Nighthawks move to 7-3-2 on the season and hang on to the top spot in the league standings with a 3-0-1 mark.
The visitors got on the board in the 21st minute to nab a 1-0 lead. Julius Davis poked in his xxx tally of the fall after a low cross sent into the box by Richard Silva.
The home side tied the game at 1-1 in the 40th minute. Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) buried his second goal of the season as he volleyed in a cross by Brock Pease (Marshfield, Mass.).
Eastern Nazarene recorded four first-half shots while Newbury produced six attempts.
The Nighthawks outshot the Lions 8-3 in the second stanza but neither squad found the back of the net as the contest went to overtime.
Eastern Nazarene registered the lone shot attempt in the first overtime period and Newbury fired the only shot in the second session as the match ended in a stalemate.
Rookie Florian Resch (St. Stefan, Austria) collected four saves on the night in his ninth start of the fall.
