QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team defeated Husson 2-1 Saturday evening under the lights at Creedon Field.
The Lions improve to 4-7-1 on the season with the victory while the Eagles fall to 4-7-1 overall.
The hosts raced out to a 1-0 edge just 83 seconds into the contest. Edmilson Centeio (New Bedford, Mass.) headed home his first goal of the season off of a corner kick served into the box by Sunil Lepcha (Charlotte, N.C.).
The visitors pulled even at 1-1 in the 42nd minute as Ian Lee curled in a free kick to notch his fourth tally of the fall.
Eastern Nazarene produced seven shots in the opening half while Husson fired five.
The Lions regained a one-goal advantage in the 84th minute. Rookie Matt Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) netted his first collegiate goal as he poked in a through-ball bay Noah Roberts (Haverhill, Mass.).
Both squads attempted 11 shots in the match while earning six corner kicks each.
Junior goalkeeper Victor Mendoza (Cathedral City, Calif.) made three saves in his fourth start of the fall.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Newbury October 9 in a crucial NECC matchup.
