NEWTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 4-3 decision in double overtime at Lasell Thursday afternoon.
The Lions fall to 0-5-0 on the season with the setback while the Lasers improve to 1-1-1 overall.
The home team snagged a quick lead with a score in the fourth minute. Jordan Bowman tallied his first goal of the season to give Lasell a 1-0 edge.
The visitors equalized in the eighth minute to pull even at 1-1. Anson Thibault (Durham, N.H.) fired in a direct free kick to net his first collegiate marker.
The Lasers regained a one-goal advantage, 2-1, in the 16th minute. Jake Oullette found the back of the net for his first tally of the year off of an assist by Connor Wall.
Lasell doubled its lead to two goals in the 26th minute, 3-1, as Carter Migre picked up his first goal of the season.
Eastern Nazarene produced eight shots in the first half of play while the hosts attempted five.
The Lions cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 75th minute as Cyprian Okwaro (Randolph, Mass.) buried his team-leading third goal of the season.
The guests knotted the match at 3-3 in the 89th minute to force extra time. Sebastian Arboleda (Barranquilla, Colombia) netted his first tally of the season and Sunil Lepcha (Charlotte, N.C.) picked up his first assist of the fall.
Lasell bagged the golden goal with less than a minute remaining in the contest. Migre notched his second goal of the game off of a feed by Zach Ramsey.
Eastern Nazarene finished with 17 shots while the Lasers concluded the contest with 16.
Florian Resch (St. Stefan, Austria) registered eight saves between the posts on the day.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to Fitchburg State September 19.
