LEICESTER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team absorbed a 3-2 overtime loss at Becker Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions drop to 0-9-0 on the season with the setback while the Hawks improve to 3-7-0 overall.
After a scoreless first half, Eastern Nazarene jumped ahead 1-0 in the early stages of the second stanza. Connor Hudson-Bryant (Weymouth, Mass.) buried his first goal of the season just 20 seconds in to the second half. Hudson-Bryant combined with Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) for a give-and-go sequence before unleashing a long-range shot that found the back of the net.
Becker equalized in the 53rd minute to knot the contest at 1-1. Cody Lavallee headed home his second tally of the year as Lemar Baptista picked up the assist.
The Hawks scored the go-ahead goal at the hour-mark to claim a 2-1 edge. Baptista netted his third marker of the fall with Benjamin Noyes providing the assist.
The Lions pulled even in the 84th minute as Matt Knowlton (Beverly, Mass.) collected his first goal of the year off of a rebound after Nabil Chamoun (Walpole, Mass.) rang a shot off the post.
Becker bagged the golden goal in the first overtime period to clinch the non-conference win. Colby Koch scored his second goal of the season in the 95th minute and Baptista recorded his second assist of the game.
The visitors finished with 19 shots on the day while the hosts registered 20 attempts.
Sophomore Victor Mendoza (Cathedral, Calif.) posted a season-high 11 saves in his fifth start of the year.
