BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at Endicott Saturday afternoon in the first conference clash of the season.
The Lions fall to 0-5-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Gulls improve to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play with the win.
The home team got on the board in the 21st minute to snag a 1-0 edge. Evan Couchot netted his second goal of the season as he knocked in a cross delivered by Robert Hartan.
Endicott widened the margin to 2-0 in the 30th minute as Jesse Martinez collected his third tally of the year off of an assist by Thomas Martin.
Eastern Nazarene produced a pair of shots in the opening half while the Gulls recorded 18.
The hosts chalked up a score in the 55th minute to extend their lead to 3-0. Couchot notched his third marker of the year and second of the game as Hartan provided the assist.
Endicott added a goal in the 58th minute to cap the scoring at 4-0. Couchot completed the hat trick with his fourth tally of the season as Rieley Hoffman picked up the assist.
The Lions finished the match with four shots, led by Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) with two attempts. The Gulls rattled off 33 shot attempts on the day.
Rookie Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) recorded nine saves in his fourth start of the season between the pipes. Victor Mendoza (Cathedral, Calif.) manned the net for the final 21 minutes and made one stop.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene hits the road for a non-conference clash at Springfield September 18.
