QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team fell to Lesley 1-0 in the first match of the 2017 campaign Friday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions sink to 0-1-0 on the year while the Lynx improve to 1-0-0 overall with the result.
The visitors scored the match's lone goal in the 42nd minute as Anthony Vitta netted his first tally of the fall off of a free kick delivery by Tiago Pacheco.
Eastern Nazarene manufactured three shots in the first half while Lesley attempted seven.
The Lynx held an 8-3 advantage in second-half shots and a 5-0 gap in corner kicks earned in the second stanza en route to clinching the 1-0 victory.
The home team finished with six shots while the visitors recorded 15 on the night.
Junior Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) paced the Lions with three shots in the match, including a pair on goal.
Rookie Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) stopped four shots in his collegiate debut between the posts. James Webb saved both shots he faced in goal for Lesley.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns to the pitch September 2 to host Regis in a non-conference match.
