BEVERLY, Mass.- The eighth-seeded Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at top-seeded Endicott Saturday evening in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.
The Lions finish the season with a 6-11-2 overall record while the Gulls improve to 12-5-2 on the year and advance to the semifinal round.
Endicott got off to a fast start, bagging the game's opening score in the third minute of action. Evan Couchot netted his ninth goal of the season as he knocked in a loose ball after Dario Neukom's shot rang off the crossbar.
The Gulls doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute. Neukom lofted a long-distance shot into the back of the net for his fifth tally of the fall while Couchot provided the assist.
Eastern Nazarene mustered two shots in the first 45 minutes of play and Endicott fired 10 first-half shots.
The hosts chalked up their third goal of the game in the 80th minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Couchot collected his second marker of the contest, slotting a one-timed shot into the lower left corner of the cage off of a feed by Diego Maillo.
The Lions got on the board in the 86th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1. Nicholas Fernandez (Foster, R.I.) notched his first collegiate goal as he headed in a corner kick delivery by Jacob Mason (Southport, England).
Eastern Nazarene concluded the contest with five shots while Endicott registered 21 attempts on the evening.
Senior goalkeeper Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.) racked up eight saves between the pipes.
