Men’s Soccer Suffers 3-1 Setback at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team fell 3-1 on the road at Salve Regina Saturday afternoon.
The Lions move to 4-3-0 on the year and 0-2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Seahawks improve to 4-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league matches with the win.
Eastern Nazarene opened the scoring in the 16th minute to claim a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Jacob Mason (Southport, England) tallied his fourth goal of the campaign while senior Scott Hansen (Middletown Springs, Vt.) picked up his team-best fourth assist of the fall.
Salve Regina leveled the contest at 1-1 in the 35th minute. Issa Demirgioglu notched his second score of the season off of an assist from Kyle Knoth.
The hosts gained a 2-1 advantage in the 42nd minute as Knoth found the back of the net from a setup by Evan Dudney.
The Lions mustered two shots in the opening 45 while the Seahawks generated seven shots.
Salve Regina added an insurance goal in the 61st minute to stretch its lead to 3-1. Alex Wasilewski buried his fourth marker of the season and Zachary Kraft earned an assist.
Eastern Nazarene attempted six shots on the afternoon while manufacturing three corner kicks. The Seahawks produced 15 shots in the win and finished with three corners.
Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) stopped six shots in goal for the Lions. Daniel Stern made a pair of saves between the posts for the home side.
