QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene men's soccer team netted its second straight win of the season, rolling by Lesley 3-1 Wednesday evening.
The Lions raise their overall record to 2-0-0 on the year with the result while the Lynx drop to 0-2-0.
Rookie Andrew Nelson (Burtonsville, Md.) opened the scoring with his first collegiate tally in the 19th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Eastern Nazarene picked up its second score of the game in the 23rd minute to push its advantage to 2-0. Sophomore Jacob Mason (Southport, England) buried his second marker of the fall off of an assist by Scott Hansen (Middletown Springs, Vt.).
The Lions headed into the halftime intermission clinging to a 2-0 lead. Both teams generated four shots in the opening period.
Nelson scored his second goal of the contest just past halftime to increase the Lions' edge to 3-0. Classmate Omar Cruz (Gaithersburg, Md.) earned his first collegiate assist on the 47th minute tally.
Lesley erased Eastern Nazarene's shutout bid in the 79th minute of play as Erik Johansen notched his first goal of the year.
The Lions finished the contest with seven shots while the Lynx recorded 11 on the night.
Senior Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) turned aside four shots between the posts for the visitors to pick up his second win of the season.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will travel west to face Clark in a non-conference clash September 6.
