Men’s Lacrosse Edges Salem State, 13-12
NORTH QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team collected its second straight win, downing Salem State 13-12 Thursday evening at Creedon Field.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Salem State opened the game with three unanswered goals, Eastern Nazarene responded with three tallies to level the contest at 3-3 heading into the second quarter.
- The Lions outscored the Vikings 4-3 in the second period to hold a narrow 7-6 edge at the halftime break.
- Both squads netted three goals in the third as the home team clung to a 10-9 advantage.
- Eastern Nazarene chalked up back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 12-9.
- Salem State answered with a pair of tallies to cut the deficit to 12-11 with 3:50 remaining in regulation.
- Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.) buried his fifth goal of the game with 2:29 on the clock as the Lions reclaimed a two-goal margin, 13-11.
- The Vikings battled back to pick up a man-up goal in the final minute but Eastern Nazarene managed to close out its second victory in a row.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Devano Clarke (Lucea, Jamaica) posted a career-high five goals while adding five assists and eight ground balls.
- Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.) poured in a team-high five goals.
- Matt Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.) notched three goals, four assists, eight ground balls, and five caused turnovers.
- Netminder Walter Stockwell (Hyde Park, Mass.) finished with 11 saves on the night.
- Eastern Nazarene generated 48 shot attempts while Salem State manufactured 42 attempts in the game.
- Lake Fleming paced the Vikings with four goals and one assist while Dakota Girard also netted four goals.
