WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's lacrosse team absorbed a 24-3 loss to New England College Wednesday afternoon in the first conference game of the spring.
The Lions move to 0-9 on the year and 0-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the setback. The Pilgrims improve to 4-8 overall and 2-0 in league action with the win.
Jamar Griggs (Stamford, Conn.) netted all three of the home team's goals. Matt Cawthorne (Norwell, Mass.), Jimmy Keuther (Marshfield, Mass.), and Kellen Lee (Henderson, Nev.) all picked up one assist on the day. Devano Clarke (Lucea, Jamaica) and Joey Depina (Whitman, Mass.) both scooped up four ground balls.
The visitors tallied seven goals in the opening quarter before scoring 10 in the second frame and tacking on four goals in the third period.
Both squads manufactured three goals in the fourth quarter as New England College collected its second-straight victory.
Ryan Almeida (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) posted a career-high 21 saves in his ninth start of the season in goal.
Thomas Norton paced the Pilgrims with 10 goals in the contest while adding two assists. Lucas Ferreira notched four goals and eight assists while Sam Crary added five goals.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene travels to Mitchell April 16 for a NECC clash.
