Men’s Golf Takes Third at Mitchell Invitational, Dietz Claims Top Individual Honors
GROTON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's golf team captured third place at the Mitchell College Invitational Thursday at Shennecossett Golf Club.
Junior Michael Dietz (North Charleston, S.C.) earned a first-place finish in the individual standings for the second year in a row with a season-low 75.
The Lions posted a team total of 363 to edge Emmanuel for third-place while Dean claimed the team title with a combined mark of 331 and Mitchell finished with a 337.
Senior Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.) fired a season-best 83 to finish in the top-five at the tournament.
Playing close to home, rookie Chris Jaskiewicz (Oakdale, Conn.) bested his career-low by nearly 30 strokes to card a 98.
Sophomore Jimmy Keuther (Marshfield, Mass.) shot a career-best 116 on the day, reducing his collegiate-low by nearly 20 strokes while rookie Colby Knott (West Warwick, R.I.) also competed for Eastern Nazarene.
"Everybody played really well today and I'm excited for the progress that the team has made as we head into the second half of our fall season," commented head coach Toni Kabilian. "Michael had a fantastic round today to earn top medalist honors. He has played exceptionally well at this course every year and it was good to see him shoot a season-low score."
Competing in "The Nutmeg State" for the second-straight day, Eastern Nazarene will compete at the Albertus Magnus Invitational September 27 at Alling Memorial Golf Course in New Haven, Conn.
