Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at NECC Invitational Sunday
WEST BOYLSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's golf team finished in seventh place after the second and final round of the New England Collegiate Conference Invitational Sunday afternoon at Wachusett Country Club.
The Lions trimmed 11 strokes off of their first-round combined score, posting a team total of 364 in the second round to finish the tournament with a overall score of 739.
Rookie Michael Dietz (North Charleston, S.C.) tied for 17th place after firing an 87 on day two.
Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.) carded a team-best 81 on the afternoon, besting his first-round mark by 13 strokes.
Connor Simpson (Haverhill, Mass.) shot a 92 in the second round after tallying a 94 in the opening 18 holes while Sam Danis (Uxbridge, Mass.) matched his first-round mark of 104
Babson's Chris Bornhorst garnered top medalist honors for the second-straight year with a two-day score of 143 to lead the Beavers to their fourth NECC title in a row.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns to the links October 5 to compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship Qualifier event at Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
