Waldroop Fires 75 to Lead Men’s Golf to Eighth Place at Westfield State Invitational
WESTFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.) carded a program-record 75 to guide the Eastern Nazarene College men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Westfield State Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Tekoa Country Club.
Waldroop finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with a four-over-par 75.
Rookie Michael Dietz (North Charleston, S.C.) posted a season-low 78 to tie for 14th place.
Connor Simpson (Haverhill, Mass.) turned in a score of 91 while Sam Danis (Uxbridge, Mass.) recorded a personal-best 93.
Westfield State's Kyle Fairbanks captured in the individual title after four playoff holes. The host Owls claimed the team title with a combined score of 295.
The Lions placed eighth at the 14-team tournament.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will compete at the two-day New England Collegiate Conference Invitational September 30 and October 1 at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston, Massachusetts.
