Garrett Crandell, Noah Cheney Claim NECC Men’s Basketball All-Conference Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Seniors Garrett Crandell (Bristol, Tenn.) and Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team collected All-New England Collegiate Conference accolades, announced the league office Monday afternoon.
Crandell was tabbed to the All-NECC first team after earning All-NECC second team honors last season while Cheney was selected to the All-NECC second team. Graduate student Andrew Mitchell (Campobello, S.C.) was also named to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
Crandell appeared in all 25 games this season and started 23 games. He ranks fifth in the conference with 15.5 points per game while leading the team with 5.1 rebounds per contest. In league play, Crandell averaged 16.3 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game this season. A two-time NECC Player of the Week, Crandell shot 49.7% from the floor and 35.6% from beyond the arc on the year.
Cheney averaged 11.8 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per contest this season. In conference action, posted 12.9 points and 2.9 boards per game. Cheney played in all 25 games this season and made 18 starts. He sports a field-goal percentage of 40.8% to go with a 36.3% shooting percentage from the perimeter.
On February 19, Cheney became the 34th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
Mitchell saw action in 23 games this season, including all 12 conference contests, while tallying 52 points and 36 rebounds on the year.
Eastern Nazarene posted a 13-12 overall record and finished the regular season with an 8-4 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions earned the No. 3 seed in the NECC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Becker in the opening round February 25.
