Josh Rice Named NECC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Senior Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team has been tabbed the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Rice averaged 21.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game to lead the Lions to a pair of victories on the week.
The senior poured in 19 points and added four rebounds in Eastern Nazarene's pivotal 92-72 win over New England College.
Rice splashed seven three-pointers to finish with 23 points to go with four assists and three boards in the Lions' 95-66 non-conference victory over Gordon.
Rice shot 70% from the floor and connected on 11-of-15 from the perimeter on the week.
This season, Rice ranks second on the team with 13.7 points per game while adding 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest. He leads the league and ranks 12th in NCAA Division III with a three-point percentage of 47.1%, draining 57 treys on the year.
Winners of six-straight games, Eastern Nazarene boasts a 10-8 overall record and sits atop the New England Collegiate Conference standings with a 5-0 mark. The Lions return to the hardwood January 29 as they host Mitchell.
