Men’s Basketball Absorbs 76-53 Loss to Roger Williams
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team dropped a 76-53 decision to Roger Williams Tuesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions sink to 4-7 on the season and 1-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Hawks improve to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in league action.
Corey Doran (Fairfield, Calif.) poured in a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Patrick Michel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finished with seven points and four boards. Christian Lynch (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Anthony Petrilli (Santa Clarita, Calif.) both netted six points on the night.
The hosts raced out to a 5-2 edge early on in the contest on a trey by Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.) and a layup by Lynch two minutes after tip-off.
The visitors rattled off a 15-1 run to claim a 17-6 lead with 13:54 remaining in the first half.
Eastern Nazarene cut the deficit to two with 12:09 on the clock on a basket by Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.).
Roger Williams stretched its advantage to 17 points with 3:34 to go in the opening frame as Conor O'Brien knocked down a jumper.
The Lions trailed 41-24 at the halftime intermission.
The Hawks maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half en route to their fifth consecutive victory.
The guests' largest lead of the game came with 2:08 remaining as Ben Stone splashed a triple to widen the gap to 74-47.
The Lions shot 33.8% from the floor and 14.3% from the perimeter on the evening. The Hawks concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 50.9% to go with 8-for-23 shooting from beyond the arc.
