Men’s Basketball Lands Five on NABC Honors Court
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Five Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball players, including four members of the Lions' starting lineup, have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, as announced by the organization Thursday.
Carlos Hamlett (Roswell, Ga.), Eric Lynch (Alpharetta, Ga.), Jaylen Owens (Johns Creek, Ga.), Jeremy Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) were all recognized for their academic excellence.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The student-athlete must attend an NCAA Division I, II, II or NAIA Division I or II institution for at least one year, own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher and be a junior or senior academic as well as a varsity player.
A total of 1,000 student-athletes from over 350 colleges and universities nationwide earned the distinction.
Owens, Jeremy Wagner and Justin Wagner have all collected Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Academic accolades in each of the past two seasons while Hamlett picked up his first CCC All-Academic nod this year.
The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 22-5 overall record and finished third in the league standings with a mark of 14-4. The Lions advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons.
Owens was selected to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team for the second-consecutive year while Justin Wagner was tabbed to the All-CCC third team.
