Jaylen Owens, Justin Wagner Garner All-CCC Men’s Basketball Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Juniors Jaylen Owens (Johns Creek, Ga.) and Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team picked up All-Commonwealth Coast Conference laurels for the 2014-15 season, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Owens earned a spot on the All-CCC first team for the second consecutive season and becomes the first player in program history to repeat as an All-CCC first team selection since Dave Hepburn earned back-to-back first team honors in 1995-96 and 1996-97.
Justin Wagner claimed his first career All-CCC accolade as he was tabbed to the All-CCC third team.
Owens ranked second in the conference in scoring with 18.8 points per game. He also paced the league with 4.8 assists per contest.
Owens ranked second on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game and was tied for the team-lead with 1.8 steals per contest.
He shot 41.2% from the floor, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 79.4% from the charity stripe this season.
Owens appeared in all 25 games for the Lions and started 24 contests. He was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week once this season.
Wagner ranked second on the team with 10.3 points per game and shared the team-lead with 1.8 steals per game.
He averaged 3.5 rebounds per game while committing only nine turnovers as he started all 25 games for Eastern Nazarene this season.
One of the top shooters in the conference, Wagner drained a league-high 74 three-pointers this season and ranked second in the CCC with a shooting percentage of 47.4% from the perimeter.
He connected on 46.2% of his field-goal attempts and sank 84.4% of his chances from the free throw line this year.
Eastern Nazarene finished the 2014-15 regular season with a 21-4 overall record to go with a league mark of 14-4. The Lions secured the #3 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Roger Williams in the quarterfinals February 24.
