Lynch, Owens Selected to All-CCC Men’s Basketball Teams
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sophomores Eric Lynch (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Jaylen Owens (Johns Creek, Ga.) of the Eastern Nazarene men's basketball team have been named All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selections, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Owens earned a spot on the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team while Lynch picked up second team honors.
This marks Owens' second All-CCC nod after earning honorable mention a year ago and Lynch's first career all-conference accolade.
Owens led the Lions and ranked fourth in the league in scoring with 17.8 points per game. He registered 10 games with 20 or more points this season, including a 33-point performance in the final regular season home contest against Nichols.
The 2012-13 Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, Owens paced the conference with 5.1 assists per game.
The sophomore guard also averaged 3.0 rebounds per contest and 1.6 steals per game this season. Owens is shooting 42.3% from the field and 34.0% from beyond the arc on the year.
This season, Owens has collected four Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors and has started all 24 games for the Lions.
Lynch ranks second on the team and 15th in the league with 12.0 points per game while also averaging 4.5 rebounds per game this year. The sophomore forward has hauled in 53 offensive boards on the year.
He has connected on 49.0% of his field-goal attempts and is shooting 67.0% from the free throw line on the season.
Lynch has started all 22 contests in which he has seen action this year and has tallied double-digit points in 14 games this season. He has amassed 20 or more points four times, including a 23-point effort in Eastern Nazarene's victory over league-leading Nichols.
Eastern Nazarene closed out the 2013-14 regular season with a 19-5 overall record and finished second in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 13-5 league mark.
The Lions earned the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs and will host seventh-seeded Wentworth in the quarterfinals February 25.
