Jaylen Owens Garners CCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore guard Jaylen Owens (Johns Creek, Ga.) of the Eastern Nazarene men's basketball team earned his second Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honor of the season, as announced by the league office Monday.
Owens played a pivotal role in the Lions' 76-74 victory over Endicott Saturday at home. The win snapped a three-game skid while improving the team to 11-4 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
The sophomore matched his career-high of 26 points in the contest. Owens also added six rebounds and five assists on the day.
Owens connected on 9-of-16 from the field, including 3-for-6 from three-point range. He also registered a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the charity stripe in the victory.
This season, Owens paces Eastern Nazarene and ranks third in the Commonwealth Coast with 17.2 points per game. He also leads the league in assists per game with 4.9 helpers per contest.
