Justin Wagner Earns Second CCC Rookie of the Week Honor
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- For the second time this season, Eastern Nazarene freshman Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- For the second time this season, Eastern Nazarene freshman Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.
Wagner played a vital role in the Lions' 74-57 victory over the University of New England February 6 at home. The rookie drained a career-high six three-pointers on seven attempts to finish with 18 points on the night. He also added a pair of assists and four rebounds, including three on the offensive end of the court.
With the win, Eastern Nazarene improved to 15-7 overall and 9-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Lions currently sit in fourth place in the league standings with three games left on the docket.
Wagner picked up his first CCC Rookie of the Week accolade November 19 following a 1-1 week for Eastern Nazarene in which he averaged 11.5 points per game on 53.8% shooting.
This season Wagner is averaging 8.2 points per contest and has connected on 40.2% of his chances from downtown. He leads the team and ranks seventh in the league with 43 made buckets from long distance.
Wagner and the Lions return to action February 12 as they host league-leading Curry at the Lahue Physical Education Center at 7:00 pm. Eastern Nazarene handed the Colonels their first conference loss earlier this season, an 85-72 victory on the road.
