MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team suffered a pair of losses to Penn College Monday afternoon, falling 7-2 and 7-4.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 2, Penn College 7

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Penn College posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim an early 2-0 lead.
- The Wildcats scored twice in the second to double their advantage to 4-0.
- Eastern Nazarene produced two runs in the top of the third inning to cut the deficit to 4-2. Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) belted his first collegiate home run to plate O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.).
- Penn College tallied three runs in the home half of the sixth to stretch its lead to 7-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) chalked up three hits in the matinee game.
- Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) registered two RBIs, one hit, and one run scored.
- Colby Rohr (Highland Village, Texas) made his first start on the hill and worked one inning. Luke Descheneaux (Lowell, Mass.) threw five innings and racked up six strikeouts in his first appearance out of the bullpen.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Penn College plated three runs in the top of the third inning to capture a 3-0 edge.
- Eastern Nazarene responded with three runs in the home half of the frame to level the game at 3-3. Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) laced a single up the middle to drive in Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) from second base. Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) drew a bases-loaded walk to knock in Michael Monteforte (Wilmington, Mass.) before Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) absorbed a hit-by-pitch to score Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic).
- The Wildcats notched a run in the fourth to reclaim the lead, 4-3.
- Penn College added a run in the fifth inning to widen the gap to 5-3.
- The Wildcats tacked on two scores in the sixth to push their advantage to 7-3.
- The Lions tallied a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 7-4 as Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) launched a pinch-hit home run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) collected two hits and one RBI.
- Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) posted two base knocks in the game.
- Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) both recorded one hit, one RBI, and one run scored.
- Kelvin Cortez (Corona, N.Y.) hurled five innings and fanned six batters in his first start of the year. Rookie Paul Foster (North Billerica, Mass.) tossed two innings of relief in his first collegiate appearance and finished with two strikeouts.
