Baseball Alum Zachary Carmody Inks Pro Contract with Roswell Invaders
QUINCY, Mass.- Weeks after wrapping up his collegiate career and graduating from Eastern Nazarene College, Zachary Carmody (Babylon, N.Y.) signed a professional contract with the Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League.
Founded in 2010, the Roswell Invaders are based out of Roswell, New Mexico and play in the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The Pecos League is an independent baseball league which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout California, New Mexico, Southern Arizona, Kansas, West Texas, and Southern Colorado. The Pecos League has two divisions which stretch from the plains of Kansas to the oceans of California to the Mexican border of Texas. The league's high-power offenses are fueled by high altitudes and smaller ballparks. The Mountain Division of the Pecos League is home to high-altitude baseball stadiums where the average elevation is 4,870 feet about sea level.
Roswell begins the 2019 campaign May 30 at home against the White Sands Pupfish. The Invaders will play 64 regular-season games with 32 contests at the club's home stadium, Joe Bauman Stadium.
An All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection in 2018, Carmody concluded his four-year career with the Lions in 2019 after leading the squad to the program's first postseason appearance since 2010.
Carmody posted a .306 career batting average to go with a .377 on-base percentage and .427 slugging-percentage. He appeared in 140 games in an ENC uniform and racked up 132 hits, including six home runs. Carmody registered 69 runs scored, 73 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in four seasons with the Lions.
