Late Push Lifts Baseball to 4-0 Victory at Curry
MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team earned its first win over Curry since 2014 with a 4-0 decision Tuesday afternoon, marking the first Lions' victory in the last eight meetings between the two teams.
The Lions climb to 11-11 on the spring with the win while the Colonels fall to 7-14-1 overall.
Matthew Urena (Flushing, N.Y.) notched a team-high two hits and scored one run. Connor Simpson (Haverhill, Mass.) recorded one base knock and one RBI. Josue Basilis (Bronx, N.Y.) and Anthony Castrogiovanni (Bohemia, N.Y.) both finished with one hit and one run scored.
The visitors captured a 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the ninth. Simpson roped a single to left with the bases-loaded to score Urena from third. Castrogiovanni, Basilis, and Simpson all crossed the dish as Anthony Esposito (Mount Royal, N.J.) reached on an error.
Briley Seiter (Bellevue, Ky.) tossed seven scoreless innings and fanned two batters in his fifth start of the season. Daniel Rivera (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) worked two innings of relief and posted three strikeouts in his sixth appearance out of the bullpen.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene heads to Gordon April 11.
