QUINCY, Mass.- In the program's first-ever New England Collegiate Conference games, the Eastern Nazarene College baseball team traded wins with Lesley Saturday afternoon at Adams Field. The Lions prevailed 4-1 in the opening game before the Lynx claimed game two 6-4.
The Lions progress to 10-7 on the year and 1-1 in league play with the results. The Lynx move to 3-12 overall and 1-1 in conference action with the split.
In the first clash of the day, Eastern Nazarene triumphed 4-1 to claim its first league win of the season.
Lesley tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning to snag a 1-0 edge.
The Lions generated four runs in the top of the second to capture a 4-1 advantage.
Brent Houle (Westfield, Mass.) tossed his third complete game of the season in his fourth start, finishing with five strikeouts to improve to 3-0 on the mound.
In the series finale, Lesley salvaged the split with a 6-4 win.
The Lynx plated a pair of runs in the first to establish a 2-0 lead.
The Lions cut the deficit to 2-1 with one run in the second inning.
Lesley scored one run in the fourth to reclaim a two-run margin.
Eastern Nazarene vaulted ahead 4-3 with three scores in the top of the fifth.
The Lynx regained the lead, 5-4, with a pair of runs in the home half of the fifth frame.
Lesley tacked on an run in the sixth to widen the gap to 6-4.
Brenndan Rogers (Hanson, Mass.) pitched 4.1 innings and recorded seven strikeouts. Brandon Imonti (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Daniel Rivera (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) both made relief appearances in the contest.
