LYNN, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team blanked Fisher 2-0 and 5-0 Monday at Fraser Field as Ben Petersen (Manchester, Conn.) and Xavier Faria (Assonet, Mass.) both hurled their first complete games.
The Lions improve to 13-6 on the season with the wins while the Falcons fall to 17-15 overall.
Zachary Carmody (Babylon, N.Y.) drove in a team-high three RBIs while adding a base hit and one run. Zach Zaino (Falmouth, Mass.) finished with three hits and two runs scored. Steven Pesce (Harrison, N.Y.) registered two hits, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Connor Simpson (Haverhill, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of base knocks, one run, and a stolen bag.
In game one, the visitors notched a 2-0 shut-out victory.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the top of the third inning to seize a 1-0 edge. Carmody roped a double to center field to drive in Joshua Bombard (Rutland, Mass.) all the way from first base.
The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a run in the fourth. Anthony Esposito (Mount Royal, N.J.) collected his fifth RBI of the season with a two-out base knock to center to plate Zaino from third.
Petersen struck out two batters while allowing just four hits and one walk in his third start of the spring.
In the nightcap, Eastern Nazarene rolled to a 5-0 victory to complete the series-sweep.
The Lions manufactured four runs in the third to grab a 4-0 lead. James Coury (Milford, Conn.) and Simpson both crossed the dish as Carmody reached on an error in the outfield. Bombard and Carmody scored on a sacrifice bunt by Pesce.
Eastern Nazarene tacked on a run in the sixth to stretch the margin to 5-0. Coury laced a single up the middle to drive in Zaino.
Faria fanned a pair of batters while scattering four hits and zero walks in his first start of the year.
