Baseball Garners Three All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Honorees, Receives Team Sportsmanship Award
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team earned three All-Commonwealth Coast Conference nods and received the Team Sportsmanship Award, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Sophomore Cameron Fiorentino (Uxbridge, Mass.) claimed All-Commonwealth Coast Conference second team honors. Juniors Jeremy Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) were each selected to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference third team.
The Lions earned the Commonwealth Coast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award for the first time since 2011.
Fiorentino has seen action in 34 games this spring and paces the Lions with 37 hits, 11 doubles, 20 RBIs and 21 walks. He also leads the team and ranks sixth in the conference with a .370 batting average to go with an on-base percentage of .480 and a slugging percentage of .510. Fiorentino has also belted one homer this season, scored 22 runs and stole four bases.
The sophomore also owns a 2-2 record on the mound and has pitched 27.2 innings this season. Fiorentino has struck out 22 batters in five starts and two relief appearances.
Jeremy Wagner ranks second on the team with a .330 batting average and a .442 on-base percentage. He has played in 32 games this season, stationed primarily at shortstop. Jeremy Wagner has recorded 31 base knocks and seven RBIs. The junior leads Eastern Nazarene with 26 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. He also boasts a .944 fielding percentage with a team-high 81 assists while committing just seven errors.
Justin Wagner ranks second on the Lions with 16 RBIs this year while collecting 24 hits and crossing the dish 11 times. He has appeared in 31 contests this spring and has swiped 14 bases. Justin Wagner is batting .296 on the year to go with an on-base percentage of .372 and has struck out just five times. Playing mainly at second base, he owns a fielding percentage of .950 and has registered 64 assists while making only seven errors in 139 total chances.
Eastern Nazarene posted a 2-14 mark against league foes this spring and currently sports a 13-22 overall record. The Lions will close out the 2015 campaign April 30 with a non-conference doubleheader at home against Lesley.
