BRISTOL, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team endured a pair of setbacks at Roger Williams Saturday, falling 11-3 and 3-0.
The Lions stumble to 10-18 on the year and 0-10 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Hawks improve to 11-16 overall and 6-6 in league games.
Cameron Fiorentino (Uxbridge, Mass.) posted a team-high two hits on the day and added a run scored. Brandon Wynne (New Haven, Conn.) drove in a pair of RBIs, landed one hit and crossed the dish once. Pat Yee (Lynnfield, Mass.) chipped in with a base knock and a run scored.
In the opening contest of the day, Roger Williams prevailed 11-3 behind eight hits and eight walks drawn.
The Hawks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, plating a pair of runs. Jamie Timothy tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Reid Nelson. Kevin Baker crossed the plate as Bryan Terzian reach on an error.
Eastern Nazarene cut the deficit in half in the top of the second inning, 2-1. Wynne motored home from third as Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) rolled a grounder to the right side of the infield.
The Lions claimed a 3-2 lead with two scores in the third frame. With two runners in scoring position, Wynne smacked a single up the middle to drive in Fiorentino and Yee.
Roger Williams utilized a nine-run frame in the fifth inning to grab an 11-3 advantage.
Frank Fusco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) tossed 4.1 innings on the mound and struck out three batters. Doug English (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) was the first pitcher out of the bullpen for Eastern Nazarene, pitching one-third of an inning. Rob Dukes (Spencer, Mass.) closed out the game on the bump with 1.1 innings of action and one strikeout.
In the second game of the twinbill, the hosts edged the visitors 3-0 despite a complete game on the hill by rookie Brent Houle (Westfield, Mass.).
The Hawks produced one run in the home half of the second as Terzian blasted a lead-off homer.
Roger Williams tacked on two scores in the bottom of the fifth inning to stretch its lead to 3-0. Caulin Rogers doubled to centerfield to plate Chris Travers from second base. Timothy landed a two-out double to drive in Rogers from third.
Houle finished with three strikeouts and one walk allowed in his third complete game of the season.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Lesley in a non-conference tilt April 21 at Bradley Field.
