Baseball Splits Two-Game Set at Curry
MILTON, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene baseball team suffered a 4-0 setback before rebounding to claim a 5-2 victory in game two of a league doubleheader at Curry Monday afternoon.

MILTON, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene baseball team suffered a 4-0 setback before rebounding to claim a 5-2 victory in game two of a league doubleheader at Curry Monday afternoon. The Lions progress to 10-18 on the year and 2-10 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels move to 6-14-2 overall and 4-6 in league play.
Freshman Justin Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) paced Eastern Nazarene with three base hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Ryan Garza (Elsa, Texas) collected a pair of base knocks and drove in a run while Anthony Berroa (Teaneck, N.J.) also landed two hits and stole two bases.
In the opening contest, Curry tallied two runs in the bottom of the third and added a pair of runs in the fourth.
Berroa tossed a complete game and struck out three batters while allowing four unearned runs in six innings.
In the nightcap, the Lions struck for three runs in the second to grab a 3-0 lead. With runners on the corners, Justin Wagner's bunt plated Garza from third. Rocco Martinelli (Panama City, Panama) dropped down a squeeze bunt to allow Jeremy Wagner (Oklahoma City, Okla.) to motor home. Justin Wagner trotted home on a balk with two outs in the frame.
The visitors notched a run in the fourth as E.J. Estrada (Alpharetta, Ga.) laced an RBI single to left field to score Justin Wagner from second base.
Eastern Nazarene picked up a run in the seventh to stretch the margin to 5-0. Berroa raked a two-out double to left and stole third. Garza drove in Berroa with a single to centerfield.
The Colonels posted two runs in the home half of the seventh.
Brad Hampton (South Daytona, Fla.) hurled a complete game and fanned four batters to earn his first win of the year.
Up next, the Lions will travel to Framingham State April 17 for a non-conference nine-inning tilt.
