Wayne Hassinger (69), was a clutch hitter and was one of the primary reasons that ENC's baseball team was highly regarded during 1965-1969. A giant of a target at first base gathering every errant throw that was tossed his way, Hassinger also reminded runners not to stray too far off first base with his gentle tap in the head when they were diving back to first base. He hit in the number 4 spot from the start of his freshman year and hit over .300 each of the four years he played. Clutch hitting during his sophomore year helped the baseball team get invited to the regional baseball playoffs.
