Eastern Nazarene Earns 28 Fall Academic All-NECC Selections
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College garnered 28 Fall Academic All-New England Collegiate Conference honorees, as announced by the league office Friday.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball were eligible for the award.
The Lions' men's soccer team led the way with 11 Academic All-NECC nods. The NECC champion Eastern Nazarene women's volleyball team landed seven student-athletes on the list.
Men's cross country boasted four recipients while the women's cross country team and women's soccer team both garnered three honorees.
Among the recipients were four all-conference performers and three Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team honorees.
Women's volleyball's Eliana Baran collected NECC Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and All-NECC laurels to go with All-NEWVA honorable mention and NEWVA All-Rookie honors. She was also named the NECC Tournament MVP as the Lions captured their second-straight title.
Men's soccer senior Tyler Ferreira was tabbed the NECC Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a spot on the All-NECC team along with Michael Frotscher. Men's cross country's Xavier Depina picked up NECC Rookie of the Year honors after finishing second overall at the NECC Championship meet.
Academic All-Conference honorees Piper Bolner, Elizabeth Gillis, and Briana Taylor were all named to the Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team in the fall.
