ENC Tennis Teams Collect 10 Academic All-GNAC Honors
WINTHROP, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team garnered seven Academic All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference nods while the women's tennis team boasted three recipients, as the league office unveiled the 2019-20 Academic All-GNAC list Monday.
The Lions' women's tennis team, the 2019 GNAC champions, was represented by senior Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) along with juniors Makayla Grantham (Apalachian, N.Y.) and Emily Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany). Ruttkowski was selected to the All-GNAC first team in singles in the fall while Jimenez earned a spot on the All-GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
The ENC men's tennis squad, the reigning GNAC champions, was represented by four seniors, two juniors, and one sophomore. Corey Davis (Derby, Vt.), Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.), Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany), and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) all collected their third-career Academic All-Conference accolades. Juniors Jesus Lucart (Wylie, Texas) and Julius Opaschowski (Hamburg, Germany) along with sophomore Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) were also recognized by the conference.
In order to be eligible for academic all-conference, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have reached/completed second-year academic status.
