Eastern Nazarene Places 27 on Winter/Spring Academic All-NECC List
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College garnered 27 Academic All-New England Collegiate Conference honorees, as the league office announced the Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team Wednesday. A total of 235 student-athletes from the conference's eight member institutions were recognized for their academic success.
In order to be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00, and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's volleyball and men's and women's track & field were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.
The Lions' women's basketball and women's track & field teams each earned eight nods. The ENC men's basketball and softball team both featured five selections. The Lions' men's track & field program landed three honorees while the ENC baseball squad boasted a pair of recipients.
Among the honorees were four All-NECC performers. Women's basketball's Jenn Burnham (West Valley City, Utah) was tabbed the NECC Defensive Player of the Year and claimed All-NECC second team honors while teammate Kyra Fleharty (Lewistown, Mont.) earned All-NECC first team accolades. Men's basketball seniors Garrett Crandell (Bristol, Tenn.) and Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.) were named to the All-NECC first and second teams, respectively.
Seniors Josh Rice (Hanson, Mass.), Elisabeth Schaffer (Benton, Pa.), Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.), and Cheney all picked up their third career Academic All-Conference honor.
